Houston, Tx, 10 January, 2011 – Equinefit is proud to support the 2011 Modern Pentathlon World Cup event to be held in Palm Springs, California and Rancho Mirage, California. Equinefit is the lead saddle sponsor for the equestrian discipline, the winning man and woman in the show jumping event will be presented with an Equinefit custom-made jumping saddle. The horse jumping event will be hosted at the Equestrian Centers International (ECI) in Rancho Mirage. ECI will also host the running and shooting events.
The modern pentathlon simulates the experience of a 19th-century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines: He/She must ride an unfamiliar horse, fight with pistol and sword, swim, and run. Therefore, the modern pentathlon event comprises the five sport disciplines - épée fencing, pistol shooting, 200-meter freestyle swimming, show jumping on horseback and a 3-kilometer cross country run.
The Modern Pentathlon World Cup will be hosted by ECI from 2011 through 2014 and will be the first World Cup event to be hosted by the United States since 1999. More than 200 of the world’s elite athletes are expected to participate from 40 or more countries. The Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage competition to be held 24 to 27 Feb 2011, is the first in a series of five qualifying events leading up to the World Cup final which is being held on June 9th and 10th, 2011 in London.
Rene de Koning, founder of Equinefit said: “We are proud to be associated with such a prestigious event, especially as this is the first World Cup event to be held in the US in over 10 years. The pentathletes push their performance to the limit every time they compete, and we aim to deliver saddles that are designed to win. As a company we strive for excellence in everything that we do.”
Michael Cintas Olympic Equestrian Coach, Modern Pentathlon, said: “We are very pleased to have the support of Equinefit for the opening competition of the 2011 World Cup series. Equinefit’s generous donation of two custom-made jumping saddles for the winning man and woman in the show jumping event is an additional incentive for the competitors and will no doubt help them in their training as we approach the 2012 Olympic Games in London. An Equinefit saddle is the difference between riding in a Mercedes versus a Volkswagen. The saddle is a glove around your seat and leg that molds directly to the anatomy of the rider and of the horse. I highly recommend this saddle for all of our USA Pentathletes and also for our clients who train with us daily in the Hunter/Jumper and Equitation world. Their captured fit of their dressage saddle also goes without question.”
